If you read the article, you do learn about how ProtonVPN does what it's supposed to do. The issue I have is that when a company has one department that does what it's supposed to do and another that does not, well, to me it's a company issue and not a department/product issue. They have no logs, the refuse all legal challenges. Personally I like mullvad VPN but they are not free, 70 bucks a year but you can pay with monero if that's your thing. If you need to use a credit card, get a one time use care from privacy or pickup a reloadable one that allows you to use cash to load it up. If you want true privacy and security with a VPN, it's not going to be a free option. When things are free, you are the product. Some pay for service providers do have free options, such as ProtonVPN...but yeah. You get out of security what you put into it and yes, at times, that doe s mean putting money into it.
