Everything is related to everything else, but near things are more related than distant things
Cultural patterns will generally follow migration of people, which will largely be localized, but of course there are exceptions in which case you can get some interesting blends.

This would have worked way better centuries ago. Now, anything with a coast is a bit of a surprise bag. Australia is far from England, and NZ is literally antipodal to Spain, but they’re pretty English and not very Papuan or Indonesian.
