@santi@gone.lema.org @muito_pelo@contra.rio.br Hi! Do you host your own #gopher server? I'm trying to find a server I can host that is (hopefully) still maintained. Everything I'm finding looks abandoned, which is sad but understandable.

@madcodger@calckey.world @muito_pelo@contra.rio.br Right now I only use WriteFreely’s builtin gopher server. It thought it was enough for my needs but I found out it apparently serves the content always as it comes out of the database with no option for encoding, meaning UTF-8 — which isn’t very retro-friendly. So I am in the same search as you and haven’t found a definitive candidate. I don’t know much about gopher protocol to be honest. I am aiming for one of the rust servers out there as they seem to be among the most recent and less risky than unmaintained old C code. But indeed none has commits in recent years. Then again gopher protocol appears to be so simple it might not be needed.
