I was reading some old sci-fi recently, and it occurred to me that there were some terms used back in the day that might need translation for a more modern audience. For example, a "playboy" refers to somebody that these days we would call a "sexual predator". A "pillar of the community" refers to somebody who is white, an exploitative conservative, and most likely a domestic abuser. Hope this helps young people to interpret older writing.
