In latter years, I was the guy who helped the people who didn't know someone. I've largely retired now, but still help the odd old customer.
I visited an 80-year-old yesterday who was still paying £50 per month on a 'phone and airtime' deal they took out eight years ago for two budget Samsungs they haven't even owned for three years…
£4800 for two budget Samsungs, 12 minutes a month in calls and about 80k of data. But "the Vodafone shop have always been very helpful".
Vodafone UK said "nothing to do with us - the shop's a franchise", as they tried to charge £24 for 'early disconnection' - 11 days early. I asked who collected the direct debit every month. They changed the contract end date…
I got them on a monthly deal with Lebara: £1.75/mth each for 6 mths, then £4.90/mth after that, still using the Vodafone network.
