I got one of these laptops from @coreysnipes, and it’s working great! Given that this is a circa 2012 ThinkPad T430s, it runs @archlinux, @kde, @libreoffice, and @Vivaldi really, really well. It’s a damn shame that companies like Microsoft declare computers like this obsolete when they have so much more life left in them.
I’m happy that I got to save this particular machine from the scrap heap, and happy that I finally have a dedicated #Linux machine. And it’s not just any machine—it’s an honest-to-goodness ThinkPad that may outlive me. Seriously, it’s so friggin’ solid, and I love it.

One thing I love about this ThinkPad is that it has a physical middle mouse button! This might sound silly to some of you, but I use that middle mouse button a lot, especially in web browsers. It’s one of the fastest ways to open a link in a new tab, and also, one of the fastest ways to close a tab (especially one that isn’t the active tab). I know, this is old news to long-time ThinkPad fans/owners, and maybe not something most people get excited about. But hey, I’ll take joy wherever I can find it. Let me have this!
