“AI discovers rules of an ancient board game” is a huge part of laundering “AI” for the public. They had some algorithms try variations of known ancient rule sets on a newly discovered board design. At best they got possibilities to play, no “discovery.” And humans created the original game; who knows if they did something novel, different than contemporaries?
