@AAKL@infosec.exchange @theregister@geeknews.chat @carlypage@mastodon.social It painfully makes sense. Nonprofits hurt for money constantly. Of course they would go where they go. The problem is systemic... how would we begin to patch it? (Not "even begin", I think finding a sustainable model and then beginning with it is the hard part.)

@AAKL@infosec.exchange @theregister@geeknews.chat @carlypage@mastodon.social I think we have a good number of the software tools already. They aren't perfect, but they are functional. We could use a shed in Idaho (non-specific) for location easily enough, and though hardware prices currently hurt, a skilled accountant may be able to get the hardware to work. The problem is going to quickly become staff. A system administrator, software developer, and accounting firm are costs that will add up and be tight regular charges. Without scale, there is no way to offer even a solid suite of services at a price that nonprofits can justify paying (late note: I went with "Accounting Firm" because that's probablh cheaper than a full time accountant. And fully forgot to add a law firm...)
