Cross-posting this here because I've seen it discussed widely on Bluesky but not on the Fediverse: the state of Kansas has unilaterally revoked the state IDs and drivers licenses of trans people who had legally updated their gender markers. There are at least two main avenues for opposing this: * the legal route -- targeting a minority group with the intent to make it difficult for them to live or work unless they fill out incorrect information on a form, and without due process, is unconstitutional for a variety of reasons. I expect groups like the ACLU to challenge this. * Furthermore, we should be pushing towards a world where things like the government of Kansas' violent actions cannot happen. One step towards this would be to remove the gender marker field; it doesn't really need to be there in the first place, does it? * supporting those affected -- groups like the TC Pipeline (https://tcpipeline.org/) and others (see https://tcpipeline.org/notco/) help people move to other states. Moving is expensive, though! If you'd like to match me, I've donated $500 (which is a relatively small amount when it comes to moving) to the TC Pipeline and requested a company match (donations are tax-deductible as they are a 501(c)(3) organization; I've donated to the ACLU before as well).
