It is becoming very difficult to find some country to point to, and say with confidence that they are a well functioning democracy.
The country I call home, the Netherlands is often regarded as a shining liberal democracy, but in reality it is failing hard. And looking at neighbours I am not feeling it, either. Desperate neoliberal cults and populist vampires swooping around them. Many fading liberal parties hope that wars and populist mimetism will save them.

@therightarticle@mas.to And if a democracy must pin its hope on 80 year old dinosaurs against out and out populists, then something is already going very wrong inside. Even if Lula wins the head to head, how stable would that become?
