@braxa26 I like this. Dr. Vivien Thomas worked as a surgical researcher at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Thomas was critical in developing the surgical techniques used to resolve tetralogy of Fallot. Dr. Thomas was a pioneer in cardiovascular surgical techniques, and many of the techniques developed by him were used in the installation of the first mechanical heart. Dr. Thomas was not recognized in his time. He was paid a dollar less an hour than the other researchers, and he was not provided with the title of "Dr" or with any educational credit. It was not until 1976 when he was provided an honorary doctorate, and it was a doctor of laws. A call to action here: we were lucky that Dr. Thomas achieved the partial liberation required for him to develop these techniques. But the world is filled with people who, liberated from daily toil, would improve the world similarly.
