Yes, correct: the Norman-French loanwords in English are generally “learnèd” e.g. courtly/posh, legalese, scientific, and/or more specialized, whereas the words inherited from Anglo-Saxon are generally more ordinary, colloquial, streetwise, sometimes vulgar, acquired earlier in life, and used more frequently.
