Whereas Apple getting a leg up by BSD to compete against us all for basically no benefit for the FOSS good.

For me and my calculus, the BSD license is preferable. GPL is a paper tiger for we peasants anyway, it is demonstrably meaningless to companies with billions of USD to fund lawsuit defense. Or offense. Licensing aside, I suggested it to Joe because I think if you (LNL fam + *.*) gave it some running room, you might find you like it. Plus X11 is still ok here!
