@Max_Imum Sounds like he was dealing with Platonic or pythagoras greek mysticism. Greek elitists, like Plato, wanted to convince the poors that reality was fake and to not believe their own eyes. They figured hoodwinking the pleb class into mysticsm could build a better republic. Jewish mystics (Kabbalah) are a direct descendant of this. Greeks would infiltrate a religion and pollute it with their bullshit Gnosticism from the inside-out. They tried and failed at perverting Christianity.
