I love how they’ve tried to give them a shiny new name in the hope people will assume they’re something different and magical?
The term “collaborative robots” or “cobots” conjures images of a humanoid robot working as part of the team.
Instead it sounds like they have a waldo with a camera on the end that is using Gen AI to look for faults.
They fired the staff because no one wants their shitty cars.

The tech is probably a LOT simpler than that. Cobots have been a thing for a while. Plus Gen AI wouldn’t be useful in them. This is 100% because no one wants to buy their shitty cars. The dealership near me hasn’t moved inventory in ages.

Cobots aren’t new at all and you’re right, its probably just a normal-looking robot arm with a machine vision system stuck on Companies just have to make it sound like they’re “doing AI”
