part of me feels like this might not have been downsampled, but rather played on speakers in a room and then recorded back. the reverb on that piano sounds very room-like, and the EQing seems kinda complex, like there are some resonances happening in the bass that are common when playing music on large speakers that are a bit hard to capture artificially
don't forget about the tremolo on the piano, it adds a lot of character and subtle rhythm

@tajoma@critter.cafe if you don't have studio speakers perhaps you could find an impulse response somewhere that recreates this sort of acoustic (for use with convolution reverb). i'd help capture one but i don't have speakers in the new house —w—
