Of course American organizers have to use the book definitions of those terms. You know, instead of examining the material reality of the people they want to organize and tayloring to their current understanding in order to raise their class consciousness. As we know, class consciousness is raised by throwing Das Kapital at people. 😆

Fastest way to work out someone hasn’t even bothered reading Capital Vol 1 is calling it “Das Kapital” when referring to the English translation. Read it, it’s well worth it.
