yesterday i recertified in First Aid and CPR for adults kids and babies - yay!
among other things, we got to rehearse using an AED. we also learned how to MacGyver a tourniquet out of a shoelace and a pencil/twig. 😁

the only time i felt old was when i quietly asked the instructor privately about my older memory that one does one round of CPR before calling 911 for small children. the modern answer is of course no, because everyone has a cellphone in their pocket now. back in the day, we had to break away from the scene to find a landline and that was the protocol, you did one round before calling. the reason being that cardiac arrest in the very young is usually secondary to respiratory arrest.
