But I do recall all the pearl clutching over Southgate’s pragmatism. And didn’t it end on a penalty miss rather than some tactical misstep? (Not to say the criticism was wrong… I also thought he could have pushed for more)

@mlawton@mstdn.social it did! Leading to that was Southgate's sufferball which made England pretty dull. They've always been horrible at PKs and would rather avoid them, but that's 120+ and with Tuchel it takes great effort to go into. But that's how I see it and time will tell if they can reach another peak :)
