Things like this are the reason, why one the AI bubble bursts, the "free" RAM will have trouble finding a market. It is tailored for a different use, retooling everything takes time.

@masek@infosec.exchange If I remember correctly there were mainboards that had slots for two different kinds of RAM. Of course they were more expensive they gave you an option at a time when there was another technology change. Could that be possible again?
