In the game the players initially only had the road and as they explored the region, more and more tiles were added.
What I really love is that this adds another level of story-telling. They "discover" features like a cave entrance, I don't have to tell it. They may even overlook it and only find it later.

What am I still missing: While I now make 3D printed explorable maps of dungeons, houses and regions, the city is still left out. I could model a block that fills a complete map. Or I could have a map, where a quarter is a single tile. But right now there is something missing in between. What I would really love is marrying @watawatabou@mastodon.gamedev.place's generators to these tile based systems. P.S. I am digging up maps I made 30-40 years ago and think: how could I adapt those to the new tool-chain?
