@albertcardona@mathstodon.xyz Beyond that, writing referee reports is also an important mechanism to gain, or maintain, an overview of what the community is doing. Basically it forces you to understand a scientific text from the wider field. Quite often I learned new perspectives or methods from refereeing a paper that I would never have read otherwise.
