apparently some languages are killed, while some "die a natural death". they don't. always, when a language dies out, it dies out in violence. it dies to bullets or genocides or government repression. it dies out because it's "unprofitable" to teach it.

apparently some languages die out because their speakers made "calculations". these aren't real choices. they are not free nor are they consensual. speakers of big languages — french, german, spanish, russian, mandarin, english, hindi and others — do not have to make them. i didn't choose to not be fluent in kazakh. my parents didn't choose. just like my elders ages ago didn't choose to be displaced. i didn't ask for this.
