Most surreal memory of Iceland: We were driving around Rt. 1 and found one of those pull-over areas next to a canyon with a stream running through it. When we got out, it was really quiet, except for the bubble of the water nearby. Then we heard this wheezing sound. It was echoing off the canyon walls, but eventually we realised it was coming from overhead. A regular gasping noise, like someone out-of breath. It was a crow, wheezing on every wingbeat. One lone asthmatic corvid flapping past.
