I’m not sure whether A) it’s impossible to complain about “virtue signaling” in a constructive way or B) my pattern recognition skills automatically-but-not-necessarily-correctly draw the line between “person who uses the phrase ‘virtue signaling’ unironically” and “person who is an asshole” with a high enough false positive rate for it to be a problem. Anyway this dude’s mad about forking Rails: https://ryanbigg.com/2026/08/amiko-a-desperate-virtue-signalling-attempt but also “his” rewrite from Rails to Hanami is slop so my willingness to entertain the idea that my pattern recognition is “off” took a drastic hit.
