I hang on to the fact the the American public doesn't believe in "dulce et decōrum est prō patriā morī" enough to tolerate a draft, or the endless deaths from a professional army you'd have in a ground war. This must be very disappointing for our president, but he did say that those who died in service were "suckers" we all heard that.
