I don’t honestly think reddit was any better than the old bulletin boards which themselves were just a variation on usenet newsgroups
any large site is going to end up in corporate control, that’s the sad and honest truth

I feel like without something like reddit, capital would try to worm its way into places like this, which would be disastrous if it was successful.
