Fury! This kind of AI-generated sentence is flooding academic writing: "This case is not merely xxx. It is a site where yyy." "This is not simply xxx. It is about yyy". I think what makes me furious is the reductive straw figure of "not merely". Whoever said it was "merely xxx" in the first place? Surely not our fellow academics? But we suggest that they are all idiots, narrow thinkers, reductionists. There are epistemologies at play here. Alongside the politics.
