Not using the cloud is easy! To add some events to my calendar I just had to first: - trace the problem to be not Thunderbird, #Radicale itself, or Syncthing; - kill Radicale, find where my config is and start it with --debug; - find what caused that specific strange error with #DecSync; - find the corrupted 'sequences' file, try to repair it manually and pray!
