I’m non binary but I sat down to consider doing a gender recognition certificate yesterday. I don’t think the UK is going to change in my lifetime to include non binary recognition so if not boy, then girl right? But I was reading the statutory declaration you have to get notarised and it gets to the bit “I have lived as a … [female]” and I just can’t bring myself to write that. That’s not who I am. That’s not who I will ever be. I don’t need the government’s blessing to be valid, but all I want is an X in my fucking passport.
