So, I'm watching Power & Politics on CBC-Gem with Katie Simpson. Her "power panel" are all a bunch of right wingers who drool for free trade and no doubt get aroused when they fantasize about Mulroney, Reagan, and Thatcher.
Simpson asked one of them, Marieke Walsh of the Globe and Mail, whether we need to have a conversation over whether CUSMA is worthwhile pursuing or not. Ms Walsh, of course, said we need it, no matter what.
In pursuing it, so far we've changed our tax policy (DST), changed our budgetary priorities (and have started austerity of public services to do this), thrown refugees and immigrants overboard, gutted our pursuit of net zero, and have failed to stand up for international law in any meaningful sense.
Now Carney and his right wing cronies are talking about giving up supply management and are asking the provinces to stock American booze. I can't wait to see what noodle-arm Carney gives up next. (*good lord! That freak has no elbows!*)
Canada is a vast rich nation with loads of resources. It's utter nonsense that we need to turn ourselves into a de facto territory of the United States. I'm 61, and in my youth before free trade almost everything was made in Canada. People got by okay then.
