@mathowie@xoxo.zone What's the least-shitty car rental company, in your experience? This question brought to you by our ongoing fight with Budget, who charged us $250 to vacuum out some sand from the back of a rental van last month.

@waldoj@mastodon.social @mathowie@xoxo.zone I don’t have a big sample set but I’ve returned two cars to Enterprise in the last year and both times they make a point of telling me “don’t worry about any random trash, we’ll get it” which seems topical here

@waldoj@mastodon.social @mathowie@xoxo.zone I can anti-recommend Budget after they didn't have our reservation and tried to upsell us to a giant pickup truck getting ⅓ the MPG when we were driving from SLC to Yellowstone a couple of weeks ago. It took an hour to get them to get what we originally ordered and they seemed very put out about being expected to honor a contract.

@waldoj@mastodon.social @mathowie@xoxo.zone I’ve been pretty happy with Enterprise, but also we are allowed to do personal rentals through my wife’s work’s corporate account. I have a feeling that the experience isn’t as good when there isn’t a large corporation standing behind you.
