Tychy do have some blocks from Stalin era, but they are much smaller, made from brick as opposed to concrete (the technology of mass producing concrete elements was not known in Stalin's times) and well, they are surprisingly spacious and comfortable inside - the stairs, for example, aren't so steep as in later constructions, so they are better suited for elderly people. There are lots of such small surprises in Communist era architecture that make people think twice, and maybe change their minds about "concrete hell". Sure, there were absolutely abominable districts here and there, but not all were built equally.
