I remember uapmd 0.1 (released in Jan.) was nothing but a virtual MIDI 2.0 device service based on single audio plugin instance (yet the plugin hosting implementation was from scratch just with travesty, AudioToolbox, and lilv (CLAP was not supported atm). It was a long way.
