@fleuron@mas.to Yeah, I think that’s right! But on the last point, I think there’s room to use your own judgement. If the text in an image is the entire point of the image, then yes, you should share all of that content in the alt text. But if there’s only some text that really “matters” in the context of what’s being shared, you can just describe the image and share that part of the text. An example of that might be a photo of a page from a dictionary. The intent of the image is to share a single definition, but there’s plenty of other unrelated text on the page (and visible in the image). You wouldn’t want to transcribe and share all of that text, because it’s not conveying anything important. Just describing the image as a page from the dictionary, with many visible definitions, focused on [insert the one that’s actually the focus of the image]” is fine and would give people the information that the image is trying to convey.
