My first objection to "AI" is that even if they work. It's software I don't own on hardware I don't own. I know it's only cheap now because the are operating at a huge loss. I might consider teaching myself openclaw or whatever but for the time being it's cost prohibitive to build myself a computer for some reason.

There's also the ethical questions of how these models are trained and how they operate these data centers. Even if every data center was solar powered and they only trained on public domain works. I don't want to build anything where I am essentially locked in like that.
