@diffractie@glitterkitten.co.uk no. the different species of humanoids in Tolkien are called races for a reason, and they're not actually different species, see aragorn et al. Tolkien did ok for the time and culture, but it's basically just latent racism with barely even a modernist level of self-awareness. Now, Gimli and the Balrog...
