Trying to find things online in 2026… bloody tedium. I do a lot of radio comms events where I'm out on a checkpoint. In all weather… bright sunshine… pouring rain… freezing cold. Everything. Running a checkpoint involves paperwork, which you must keep dry, but still use out in the elements. I also have a tablet computer, which *really* does not like even the slightest spray on the screen. I thought about this, and bought one of these: https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/306249867707 — that specific item is no longer available, but you can see others like it such as https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/188473117167 Good, except one problem… despite getting the biggest one they offer, the hood is tight. Barely fits over my head, and if I've got a headset on for a radio, it's a real struggle. But other than that, it keeps a clipboard or tablet dry just fine. The clear fabric is ideal for this as it means any high-vis clothing underneath is visible. Okay, it wasn't expensive and nearly solves the issue, but it proved a concept. Let's go look for a better one. "clear enclosed cape" is a query one must use with great caution. The search engine is very quick to throw you down the BDSM rabbit hole very quickly if you're not careful. Either that, or you get sellers that don't understand the difference between a jacket (has sleeves), a cape (like a sleeveless jacket) or a poncho (rectangular fabric). Image search eventually narrows down something I'm after… from a vendor that's better known for BDSM stuff, but whatever. Based in Germany. €58 + €30 shipping… okay, let's go. I put the order in.
