@azonenberg@ioc.exchange yes, I understand the context. I’m just pointing out even there manufacturers seem to have decided they might as well put the USB serial chip inside the hardware, rather than in the cable 😉 Traditions die hard, but I wouldn’t be surprised if even high end network gear is USB only for OOB serial by about 2030. (I have USB-A/C to 8p8c cables too. Definitely handy for older network gear!)
