@azonenberg@ioc.exchange at the lower end it’s gone USB serial (plug in USB cable) only. At the higher end typically they provide both USB serial (via USB cable) *and* Cisco style 8p8c UART.
But it fees like even Cisco style 8p8c UART is gradually becoming retrocomputing 😃

@ewenmcneill@cloudisland.nz I mean I don't use DE-9s anymore, I have a dongle that goes straight from USB to 8p8c uart. But it's useful enough standard I hope it doesn't go away. The kinds of gear I'm talking about for the most part are cisco nexus class or e.g. the FS competitors to them
