Wow, the RAM crisis is so bad that Microsoft is deleting guidance that 32gb is the recommended amount for Windows 11, and are going to be selling surface laptops with 8gb of ram. Honestly, 16gb is the bare minimum for any modern OS. Unless you're running a specifically minimalist OS for some specific thing. This is all in reaction to the fact that the vast majority of memory production capacity is sold out until at least 2028. So there's comparatively very little left for computers and products not aimed at "AI". And as you probably expect, I hate this. It legit feels like if you own a computer with a decent amount of ram in it, it's worth holding onto it even if it's older because it's better to be a little slower than starved for ram.
