@cstross@wandering.shop @acb@mastodon.social DFDs do North Shields - IJmuiden (18 hours on a 1980s ferry). Stena do Harwich - Hoek van Holland , a shorter journey with much nicer boats. We will ignore P&O.
Personally, I’d like Rosyth to Hamburg. Operated by Stena.

Leave in the evening, sleep in a cabin, arrive in the morning. Not sure how the connections to Amsterdam are, we tend to bus in from Haarlem. Bringing a bite to eat saves a fair amount of money, though…
