@neatnik@social.lol @macmanx@social.lol hear me out - any image posted without alt text gets automatically generated alt text that says "I'm a selfish poo poo head that doesn't care about my fellow netizens." Fixes the lack of alt text coverage and clearly communicates all anyone relying on lat text would need to know about the poster...

@grace@social.lol Tempting, but unfortunately a tad counterproductive to the broader goal of inclusion and accessibility. 😄 But I do see a future in which we make it clear that making your content accessible is a requirement (and part of our code of conduct), and that accounts that can't or don't want to support that goal could be placed into a limited state. Limiting an account doesn’t remove the right to post, but does prevent people who don’t follow the account from seeing their content. So folks who knowingly choose to share inaccessible content could keep doing that, but others would have to choose to follow it vs. being subjected to that inaccessible content on the public timeline. Ideally we wouldn't have to do anything like that, and hopefully the folks who are currently not keeping accessibility top of mind will start to consider it and spend a moment or two adding alt text to their media here. But if they don't, it's something we can look at. @macmanx@social.lol
