Alright, so I've worked in a couple of datacenters. They were huge, they needed absolutely overblown power and water hookups, and they were mostly built in former farmland or other rural stuff at the edge of suburban areas.
The one I spent the most time in was across the street from US-EAST. It was one of 12 DCs on that road, and there were at least three other roads in that area that had at least as many.
They were average size for datacenters, but that meant they were Huge buildings.
The one I worked in had ... maybe 25 people working inside it on any given day, and that was on the high side. These things mostly don't have many people working inside them.
