It serves their commercial prospects. Then again, I met a guy last week who confused AI with QR; he'd been at a bar with his fifteen mates on a stag do and got confused by the QR code on the terrace table used for ordering, and he called that "AI", explaining to me (later) that he couldn't work out how to use it (the QR code) to put in an order.
