Europe is preoccupied with the war in Ukraine.
The US military is lead by a an incompetent Commander-in-Chief.
In this situation, I believe there are two likely scenarios:
1. Either China invades Taiwan before Trump is impeached and replaced by a new Congress, or…
2. China never invades Taiwan.
Most likely, there will never be a better opportunity than 2026.

@randahl@mastodon.social Xi purged his entire PLA brass after finding such corruption, they were "fueling" rockets with water and pocketing the difference. He doesn't know if his Potemkin army cash fight, and he does not have officers to rely on. Otherwise, yes, it would have been a no-brainer.
