When we talk about long inscriptions, the Res Gestae Divi Augusti is up there! This modern version of Augustus' late-in-life retrospective which offers a very particular interpretation of his life and rule (his!) is outside the Ara Pacis museum in Rome. In antiquity copies of this inscription in Latin and Greek were erected across the Roman empire. #ReliefWednesday #AncientRome #Augustus
