I was responsible for Backend Stuff and a shitload of desktops/laptops at some well known tech publication. The Laptops had 3Com Etherlink III PCMCIA cards. Users would (say) roll a pencil under-ish the laptop and lift the edge to retrieve it and *CRUNCH*. Dig out pieces w/pliers and replace. I had a standing order w/vendor: Just send two boxes of dongles/month. 3Com Megahertz adapters were instantly fucked. [Read ALT Text]
