Mostly they feel like not bothering if not directly harmed themselves. We wouldn't have so little climate change action otherwise. Direct harm does not include long term. Getting cancer seems to be fine, just as long as they're not killed outright by whatever it is that's affecting them. IMO there has to be flair to whoever would stir the 80%.
