Some see this as cute. Others, see another annoying Clippy. To me, it's what I call "UX Juice": polish and emotional elements which feign quality and retain users. Users are more likely to overlook real limitations with when they feel an immediate emotional calm induced by a familiar and slick UI. Some FOSS looks stark in comparison but once learned, is often more powerful and less annoying.
